Adventure Segment Bikes
Two-wheeler industry giants have understood the importance of Adventure segment bikes with the increasing craze for Touring bikes, be it any popular Moto Vlogger craving for a touring bike or getting it upgraded to the tourer version.
Royal Enfield sensed this demand a long ago when they launched Royal Enfield Himalayan. But due to some reasons, Royal Enfield was not able to create that speculation in the market, mainly due to its material quality & not-so-good service. Not to mention, Kawasaki also launched it’s Versys 300 variant to target adventurer enthusiasts but failed in doing so due to its categorically high price(reasonable to its brand value).
Recently two giants, Hero Moto Corp & BMW Motorrad, announced the launch of Hero Xpulse 200 & BMW 310 G & R variation focusing mid-range tourers & adventure enthusiasts. Also, BMW has started accepting bookings for their both versions which is yet to launch in India. Further increasing the adrenaline, KTM after its consecutive success in Dakar Rally since 2001, decided to launch its new KTM 390 Adventure version in early 2019. In an official press release, KTM mentions that its new KTM 390 Adventure version will be inspired by its famous KTM 1290 Adventure variant. Also, the engine used will be the same as KTM 390 Duke with a more toned & fined for touring. You can expect KTM 390 Adventure to have a better torque at higher RPM’s whereas the pick up will be bit slower compared to KTM 390 Duke & RC versions.
This touring segment is likely to increase 3-4 times compared to its current demand. With the passing time, we might see many other automobile giants launching variants targeting mid-range adventure enthusiasts.
